Brother Knights, Greetings,
The new year continued our journey to support our church, school, catholic community and each other.
In early January, with Steve and Matt’s guidance we cleared out the Historic Church to ready it for phase
The knights also took down, marked and stored the nativity scene at Steve and Judy’s farm.
Saturday January 18th, Knights packaged bottles and cans at Steve’s, great turnout, we completed the process in less than an hour and half. Way to go.
The packaging party then moved from Steve’s to the school grounds to help Sara and John Schimmoller spread 110 yards of wood chips in the playground. A slight miscalculation of the time involved on my part. The initial estimate was “oh about an hour”, somewhere around three hours later Steve said something like “well you could have told me to bring a lunch!”. Guilty as charged! The Knights along with several school families did spread 110 yards and swept the basketball court and walkways, an outstanding turnout with outstanding results. Thank you, Brothers!
Our Council held an Exemplification on January 19th and welcomed four new Knights. Thanks to Steve, Matt, George, and Frank for planning and hosting the ceremony. And welcome to our new Brothers! As a sidebar, we received a note from the state membership director, identifying us as one of the highest performing councils in the state and in particular, mentioned Matthew Deppmeier for recruiting over twenty new Knights this year.
In the batter’s box:
February 7th: K of C Adoration, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Saint Clare’s Chapel (please consider joining us)
March 1st: School Auction at the Riverhouse, Council 1872 is sponsoring a table, we have four seats available for Knights to purchase for $150.00 each. If we get enough interest, we may be able to sponsor a second table. If you are interested in spending a fun-filled evening and at the same time contributing to our school, please contact either Matt Deppmeier, or Tom Andrade to reserve a seat.
January 31st: cook and serve dinner in support of Saint Francis School “Fun Night”.
February2nd: monthly breakfast
February 10th: Monthly meeting
Try as we will we just cannot increase the size of our meeting room (short of knocking down a wall or two). As a result, our Warden (Pete Powers) has made arrangements to use the school library. The library is located at the west end of the school corridor. A huge improvement, please join us at our next council meeting on February 10th.
And lastly (I know I know George; this took too long) thanks to each of you for your contributions and support to our church, school, Christian community, council and each other .
