Father Luke Sheehan Council #1872
Bend, Oregon
A Catholic Men's Fraternal Organization - Dedicated to the Support of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and School, Youth and Community Needs.
Brought to you by the following sponsors:

We would also like to thank our Parish, PSF (parents of St. Francis), our SAC (school advisory committee), and all of our annual members of the Knights who own businesses throughout our council. Without these supporters, we could not do everything we do in the community. If you are interested in sponsoring an event or our annual newsletter, please click here and send us a form.
Chapter Meetings Every 2nd Monday - Each Month 6:30 PM.

Greetings Brother Knights:
Greetings Brothers: October is in our rearview mirror, along with the ten events that we supported, and once again you rose to the challenge. Thanks, and blessings to all of you that contributed to the successful outcome of so many church activities. You worked long hours often early in the morning into the late evening, setting up, taking down along with a bunch of cooking, serving and cleaning, way to go Knights!!
November is here; we are starting with an inside breakfast on November 3rd after the 7:30 and 10:00 o’clock masses.
On the evening of the 3rd, at 6:00 pm we need help replacing furniture at Saint Vincent's DePaul after a renovation over the past weekend, help if you can. (more likely this is over by the time you read the bulletin)
Our Worthey Deputy Andrew is sponsoring a Fraternal Benefits Night November 9th, 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The evening features Cicero Seisdedos (K of C General Agent) Cicero will offer a history of the Knights of Columbus and explain opportunities for Knights to invest and or acquire insurance through the K of C organization.
On November 16th (Saturday, after 5:30 Mass) our council is resurrecting the once famous “Poker Night”. All Knights, school parents and church members are invited and encouraged to attend. It is a Texas Hold “um” style poker game with a $50.00 buy in. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded, drinks and hors d’oeuvre will be served. Great fun, so come meet fellow knights and take their money and run!!
Sir George LeDoux has submitted a document that identifies the funds needed to support a seminarian for a single year which is about $61,000.00. Our Council is the highest contributor in the state for “Pennies for Heaven” averaging about $3,500.00 per year or around 5% of the actual annual cost of educating one seminarian. George would like Knights to understand the costs associated with becoming a priest and consider contributing to Mt Angel Seminary if possible. The itemized document is posted on our web site for your review.
Speaking of funds, Father Jose has carefully outlined our parish funds for the next fiscal year and not surprising there is a significant gap forming between our monthly operating expenses and monthly collections (in the wrong direction). Please take into consideration this serious shortfall (which is in the neighborhood of negative 18%) when filling out the church’s annual stewardship request for this year.
A packaging party for our cans and bottles program was held at the Pederson’s farm/ranch last week, thanks to the Knights that helped, we packaged approximately 150 bags which are now making their way to the recycling center.
George LeDoux pointed out that next business meeting is November 11th, which is also Veterans Day. we will hold a short ceremony honoring our Knights that have honorably served in the United States armed forces. As a side note; It has been rumored that George served in the Pennsylvania militia that repelled the British during the battle of Brandywine in 1777.
